通話詳細記錄(CDR)可以有很多方法，例如存到檔案、資料庫、或是遠端撥入用戶服務(RADIUS)，或是 syslog 中。

CDR 通常不建議用在複雜的計費系統中，如果你要更多的控制計費及呼叫記錄的話，應該採用通道事件記錄(Channel Event Logging)，主要是因為 CDR 相對簡單夠用，但是在計費系統中又不夠滿足系統端與用戶端的需求。
