如何冷卻你的 CPU? CONFIG_NO_HZ

今天試著採用 kernel 2.6.21 新的選項 CONFIG_NO_HZ, 這個選項定義在 Processor Type 中，它的說明如下：
CONFIG_NO_HZ:
This option enables a tickless system: timer interrupts will
only trigger on an as-needed basis both when the system is
busy and when the system is idle.

用了之後，我的 NB 風扇馬上停止，CPU 也確實冷下來，目前沒量測其差異有多大，等一下來測我的 NB 看電池是否可以待機更久點？有興趣的人不防試試。目前我是用 2.6.21.5
